CELTA (the Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) started life in the 1960s. Although it has been revised and formalised since then, its essential principles, content and course components remain largely unchanged. This session will consider the extent to which CELTA maintains its relevance as a teaching qualification in the 21st century and give an overview of the course structure and content. Professional Development for teachers is very important and whether you’re a new teacher looking for their first teaching job, or you want to prove to employers that you have the teaching skills with a recognised certificate, CELTA is the gold standard qualification.

----------

Sarah Ellis is currently working as Senior Manager, Assessment Services, Europe for Cambridge Assessment English. She is based in Bologna, Italy. Sarah is interested in Assessment, Learning & Professional Development and has an extensive background in teaching, teacher training, assessment and exam management.
